Synopsis of Maya

King Kashi of the Nalinga dynasty is arranging the marriage of his only child, princess Maya. The marriage is being planned as a competition where all eligible princes from allied kingdoms are invited to participate. Princess Maya, however, has already fallen in love with Raghu, the commander of her father's armies.

Meanwhile, the enemy kingdom of Phulkar is plotting against Nalinga. It is prophesied that the 21st descendent of the Naling dynasty will become a mighty world emperor. Maya, being the 20th descendent, is destined to be the mother of this emperor. Knowing this, a Sorcerer in Phulkar convinces King Ghor to kidnap the princess for his son, Prince Shardul, aided by the power of his black magic.

According to their plan, in the midst of the marriage competition, Phulkar armies attack Nalinga. By the Sorcerer's magic, King Kashi becomes deranged, and orders Raghu not to respond to their attack. Commander Raghu, unable to see the slaughter of Nalinga, usurps control over the King's armies, defends the kingdom, and saves the princess.

King Kashi invites the Phulkar King to a peace celebration, and to the resumption of his daughter's marriage ceremonies. The King announces the competition to be a competition in dance. Manipulated by the Sorcerer's power, Prince Shardul, though not a dancer, wins the competition. Kamlesh, the Sorcerer's son, unintentially drinks a love potion, becomes smitten for Maya, and by his behaviour, triggers the chaos that follows. Furious at his seeming betrayal, King Ghor attacks the Sorcerer, and in response the Sorcerer lets loose the demons of the nether worlds.
Maya and Raghu, invoking the divine powers of Kali and Shiva, unite their energies in dance. They wrest control over the demons and turn them against the Sorcerer. King Kashi, recovered from the spell, realizes how indebted he is to the loyalty and talents of his commander, and gives permission for him to marry his daughter.
